TECORA'S BIO

Tecora is a Mental Health Advocate, Workshop Trainer, Author, and Keynote Speaker

As a mental health advocate, Tecora is devoted to helping divorced and single parents not just cope with loss, but thrive past it. Her work centers primarily on guiding families through the challenges of personal loss, bullying, childcare struggles, and the sometimes painful process of starting over. Drawing on extensive research and her own personal experiences with loss, Tecora speaks with compassion, empathy, and hope, guiding audiences in navigating grief and supporting their mental well-being in ways that are healing and uplifting.

Growing up as an introverted 10-year-old girl, Tecora lost her mother to suicide. Without resources or guidance at her disposal, she spent her childhood often suffering in silence. Some time after that life-altering event, she dealt with the passing of her grandmother, who was the matriarch of the family and Tecora’s second mom.

What I do

I support
women who have experienced personal loss by helping them redefine and recreate their lives through stronger mental health and healing.

What I believe

I believe that life happens to everyone. If unprepared, some L’s can hit harder than ever. But with intentional self-care and the right support, anyone can turn a setback into a comeback.

what I do

I support Black women by providing grief management after an L and teaching them how to define and recreate their lives.

what I believe

I believe that life happens to everyone. You can never prepare for some L’s. However, with the proper support and self-care, you can overcome any L.

Who I am

I am a mom, partner, entrepreneur, advocate, author, and speaker. Prioritizing my mental health and emotional well-being has empowered me to raise happier, healthier children, as well as build a loving, supportive relationship with my partner. Today, I am living the quality of life I envisioned for myself and am passionate about helping others do the same, becoming the examples they wish they had.

My Story

I know what it is like to experience devastation, feel disconnected from the world, and wrestle with the question: What now? For 20+ years, depression was my BFF because I could not articulate my feelings to the adults around me. In the midst of all this, I noticed a disheartening pattern: many of the women I encountered could not guide me through my grief because they had not dealt with their own pain. For years, I dreamed of writing a book to support women who were navigating personal loss. When the pandemic hit, I knew it was time to begin creating space for women devastated by the loss of a parent, a painful divorce, unmanageable finances, and other life-changing L’s.

I know what it is like to experience devastation, feel disconnected from the world, and wrestle with uncertainty about what to do next. I spent 20+ years with depression as my BFF because I could not articulate my feelings to the adults around me. I also realized that many of the Black women I encountered could not tell me how to manage my grief because they did not deal with their own. I dreamed of writing a book to support Black women for years. When the pandemic hit, I knew it was time to begin supporting women who were devastated from losing a parent, going through a divorce, or experiencing L’s.
